“Marxist Philosophical Conversation” on February 22, at the Mahaweli Center!

Comrade Chamil Jayaneththi has organized a Philosophical conversation on the launch of two books, ‘Marxism in Time and Space’ written by him and his translation of the thesis written by Karl Marx for his Doctorate Degree, on February 22, 2024, at 2.00 pm at Mahaweli Centre, Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The author who has been engaged in left-wing politics for more than two decades, has written several books on Marxism and has a special interest in the discussion of Marxism. He is also the President of the Socialist People’s Forum, the Sri Lanka Section of the Fourth International.

Jayantha Seneviratne, a former professor of philosophy at the University of Kelaniya, Kanishka Gunawardhana, a professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, Tudor Weerasinghe, a professor at the Sripali Campus of, Colombo University, and Asoka Dias, director of the Sirasa Media Network, invited to make presentations in this dialogue called “Marxist Philosophical Dialogue”.

Gerard Gamage and Neil Wijethilaka, are two distinguished comrades who played a historic role in the left movement and trade union movement in Sri Lanka. These two books are dedicated to them.  The book ‘Marxism in Time and Space’ is to be awarded to Mrs. Ruwanpura Indra Githani de Silva, the wife of late Comrade Neil Wijethilaka, who passed away a few months ago. Also, “The Translation of Karl Marx’s Doctoral Thesis” will be awarded to Gerard Gamage’s brother.

Dharmasiri Lankapeli, Secretary of the Socialist People’s Forum, will make a presentation about Comrade Gerard Gamage & Niel Wijethilake.
