Acting Secretary of the Socialist People’s Forum, Dharmasiri Lankapeli, who commented in the discussion, said, “Today, the Podujana Peramuna government led by Ranil Wickramasinghe have been totally afraid to the leadership of the Wasantha and inter-university student Federation. IUSF aims is to protect free education and get solutions to their public issues of suffering the people.
The present rulers are using the Preventing of Terrorism Act to detain and torture Wasanth illegally. That is why the capitalist rulers led by Ranil Wickramasinghe are afraid of Wasantha, who has been displaying the characteristics of a national leader who has gone beyond student leadership.
Against these oppressive actions of the government and free political prisoners including Wasantha Mudalige, abolishing the Prevention of Terrorism Act is more important than ever today. Therefore our party invites all political parties, trade unions, and mass organizations to join one battlefront against Ranil’s government actions.”
“Socialist People’s Forum” Polity Burro member Professor Sumanasiri Liyanage said, “The brother of Wasantha Mudalige has been arrested under the crackdown of the Ranil Wickramasinghe government using the Prevention of Terrorism Act. The government has still failed to file charges against Wasantha Mudalige.
