Chinthaka Rajapaksa the convenor of the Movement for Agrarian and Land Reforms (MONLAR) has been at the forefront of the struggle for peasant rights in Sri Lanka was arrested for taking part in a student movement protest in Colombo. Bail was refused. YES, he committed many crimes by supporting indebted rural women’s campaign against microcredit companies, and peasant campaign in Walsapugala against illegal land grabbing by politicians endangering both humans, wild animals, and forests. YES, he committed many crimes by campaigning for natural farming practices against multinational agribusiness companies. YES, he has been in the struggle for land rights of plantation workers.
We seek the support of the people worlds over for RELEASE CHINTHAKA campaign. We especially seek the support of Indian farmers who were able to reverse the decision of the Modi government.
